New Enterprise-Oriented Perspective

In the broadband and ubiquitous era, computers, connected to each other by networks, will come into every aspect of our everyday lives. The computers will function as the social basis, and all social activities, including politics, economy, industry, science technology, and culture, will be linked through a key word "information." This progressive era requires us to not solely develop technologies individually, but also carefully think about the social and human aspects of our life within academia, in order to expand new businesses. A more sophisticated concept has become necessary. Thus, "Information Science" as a new academic discipline has come into existence.

The KCGI’s specialty is the "Information Science." However, we approach the field not as basic research, but as professional training for practitioners who seek to have more applied knowledge and technologies. We accept the reversed educational tide "from business to education (education for business)," rather than "from education to business," which is still believed in many other higher educational institutions in Japan. The KCGI’s curriculum is enterprise-oriented, and aims to train highly specialized solution and business engineers with capabilities of a CIO who can take initiatives in responding to new business in the ubiquitous era.
