2007/7/22 Joint workshop of Game Amusement Society held at KCG

Scope

The Workshop covers topics related to game entertainment and other related research topics in general. Reports and presentations on the current state of the field, perspective studies, research plans are welcome. The KCG Group is slated to make a presentation as well.

Rationale

Computer games have evolved as a new culture, but because it is considered a subculture, it is rare for computer games to be picked up academically. The Game Amusement Society (GAS) established in 2002, finds significant interrelationships between games and culture, history, philosophy and the arts that can be understood and studied from an interdisciplinary perspective. At Kyoto Computer Gakuin, since the establishment of the Game Development Department (Full-time Course Program: 2 years) in 1998, the Media Informatics Department Game Development Program (Full-time course program: 3years) in 2001, the Informatics Department Computer Amusement Program (Full-time course program: 4years) in 2003, KCG is proud to have produced graduates that are currently pursuing careers in game programming and development. We are thus, very happy to host a joint workshop with the Game Amusement Society at our school.
