The International Strategy Design & Research which ranks MOT and MBA (Management of Technology and Masters of Business Administration) education programs of graduate schools recently announced updated evaluation results. The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) was ranked top among MOT programs and second among both MOT and MBA programs in Japan. Likewise, KCGI has been ranked top in the past.

Evaluation covers 109 course programs (8 of which are integrated MOT and MBA course programs). International Strategy Design & Research evaluated and analyzed each program in terms of 1) students, 2) faculty, 3) curriculum, 4) infrastructure, 5) open network, 6) performance, 7) management and ranked them accordingly. As a result, KCGI scored 62.6 points and won the top among Japan's MOT programs.

Moreover, the Mitsubishi Research Institute, Inc. which evaluates MOT educational programs of graduate schools for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) also announced its evaluation activity results with the aim of establishing itself as an accreditation institution in the future. According to the result, KCGI is highly evaluated for setting of educational goal, curriculum structure, and student support.

KCGI is highly evaluated especially from the points of view such as "1) KCGI is making efforts towards a clear vision of fostering human resources, 2) Human resources with expert web information-based IT and management skills which are greatly needed in the society, 3) KCGI's unique MOT program is based on Information System technology concepts, and implements educational or instructional and support system considering students' various needs, 4) Information infrastructure is fully equipped with functions for distance learning or asynchronous learning systems. The report also gives the following overall evaluation". KCGI is considered to have "a highly-original course program that is strongly oriented towards practical and professional education; and is dedicated to continued improvement and development of various aspects of its course program. The faculty also comes from various backgrounds."

With the advent of a vastly changing and competitive environment among universities, there has been an increased awareness of the significance of MOT with the gradually increasing number of institutions offering MOT graduate programs throughout the country. KCGI was established in 2004 as the first professional graduate school which fosters web business professionals and received high evaluation from not only the corporate sector, but also from the government. There is a renewed stance and interest in the efforts aimed at fostering needed human resources in this age.
