The Sichuan Earthquake of magnitude 8 which occurred on May 12, 2008 caused huge damage and killed 100,000 people, and leaving many people homeless temporarily living in shelters because of collapsed houses and torn roads. KCGI and KCG students from China expressed that they deeply felt the misery of their countrymen whenever they see news reports from home.
"We can't go to the devastated areas to help victims, but we want to do as much as we can. So we, the Chinese students of The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and Kyoto Computer Gakuin got together to organize the kcg.edu Chinese society in support for the post-quake reconstruction" said the group's representative Mr. Gen Meisei of KCGI. We raised some funds in Kyoto City and many people willingly donated and gave words of cheer. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your valuable support.
We also raised funds on the internet in cooperation with The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and Kyoto Computer Gakuin. We will transfer the donation to Japan Red Cross through our school so that the funds can support the relief of victims and reconstruction of the devastated areas.
Through this activity, we also would like to convey to people in the devastated areas that there are many Japanese people supporting the earthquake victims.
The kcg.edu Chinese Society
In Support of Post-quake Reconstruction
The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics and Kyoto Computer Gakuin (KCG group) empathize with the kcg.edu Chinese Society and fully support this activity to seek support for earthquake reconstruction of devastated areas. The KCG group accepts many Chinese students every year. In addition, we have existing sister-school partnerships with various Chinese universities and regularly implement faculty and student exchange programs. The relationship between China and Japan is very strong, and as much as possible we would like to support the relief and reconstruction activities in devastated areas as concerned citizens of a neighboring Asian country.
All our teachers and students pray for the souls of the people who died in big earthquake and hope the injured will recover and the devastated areas will be reconstructed soon.
