Sichuan Big Earthquake donation Chinese students collected more than 1 million yen on the street

Unparalleled Attempt to conclude academic exchange agreement between east European and Japanese universities on line were conducted at The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI). KCG group (KCGI and Kyoto Computer Gakuin) held a signing ceremony concerning academic exchange using remote video conference system with Czech Republic University of Pardubice from 4 p.m. on May 15, 2008 in Japan. Two universities which got over the wall of time difference and distance with thick friendship and the latest technology swore to cooperate for each other’s development from now on.

At KCGI Hyakumamben Campus where Wataru Hasegawa, the CEO of KCG, Yasuko Hasegawa, the KCG president and Toshiharu Hasegawa, the KCGI president attended, The image of University of Pardubice was reflected as live video on the screen set in the venue, and the President Jiri Marek, Professor Yang Capek (vice dean of economy, management department) , Dr. Jana Hora (Electronics and Information department) attended the ceremony. The time difference between Czech Republic and Japan is 7 hours and the signing ceremony began with address “Good morning” from KCG.

The preparation of the signing documents was completed by e-mail exchange and each representatives signed the documents and exchanged beforehand. On the day, after the process to the signing ceremony was explained, the CEO Hasegawa and the President Marek signed the blank spots while they confirm each other through video conference system.

At the ceremony, the President Marek said, “I am convinced that the signing is beneficial to the acquisition of new knowledge and expansion of the global activity field. We are both new organization. I would like to promote exchange activities with eagerness to bring about innovation in higher education.” The CEO Hasegawa mentioned, “I hope this exchange signing will lead to the promotion of further friendship and our universities develop mutually.” After the ceremony, both universities made a toast with wine and celebrated the conclusion of the agreement.

Both universities are planning to promote the mutual dispatch of teachers and students, cooperation in education and research, and exchange of academic materials and published matter.

University of Pardubice

It is a national university found in 1950 as Chemical College and was renamed to University of Pardubice in 1994. Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics was made in 2002 and expected to contribute to ICT field of Czech Republic.
