Application Policy
The KCGI welcomes talented students with various backgrounds in order to train and foster highly specialized professional as the industrial world demands.
In the application process, the KCGI will keep fairness, openness, and strictness, and does not only focus on applicants’ present knowledge and skills but also consider their potential abilities. The KCGI carefully select highly motivated students who will become leaders in the IT field and take initiatives in their society.
Eligibility of Applicants
Anyone who falls or will fall under at least one of the categories below is eligible to apply the KCGI.
- Those who have graduated from a university approved by Article 52 of the School Education Law.
- Those who have completed special school approved by the Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan after the date determined by the Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (The enrollment period needs to be more than four years, and satisfies the standards what the Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan prescribes).
- Those who has received a bachelor’s degree prescribed by Article 28, Section 2, Number 4, of the School Education Law.
- Those who have completed sixteen years of school education in a foreign country.
- Those who have completed sixteen years of school education of a foreign country by taking additional correspondence courses of the country in Japan.
- Those who are appointed by the Minister for Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan (The Showa 28 Ministry of Education Bulletin, Number 5).
- Those who have enrolled in another graduate school, as prescribed in Article 67, Section 2 of the School Education Law, and who are approved to have suitable academic abilities.
- Those who are approved to have suitable academic abilities equivalent to a university graduate, based an individual enrollment eligibility test of the KCGI, and are older than 22 years old (as of April 1st, 2007).
- Those who have enrolled more than three years in a university approved by Article 52 of the School Education Law, and who have completed fifteen years of school education of a foreign country, or have completed fifteen years of school education of a foreign country by taking additional correspondence courses of the country in Japan, and who are approved by the KCGI on achieving excellence grades for certain credits.
- Those who are approved by the KCGI on having academic abilities equivalent to a university graduate.
- Those who are under the categories of Number 8 and 9 are required to take admission eligibility review before applying. The application documents will not be accepted before the review.
- International applicants may be asked to submit the governmental identification of respective countries.

*More than two years of professional experiences before the enrollment is required in addition to the eligibilities of applicants indicated above.
Application Procedure
Applicants must submit a complete package of application documents to the address below in an application period. Please use the registered mail for documents sent by mail. (The documents have to be received by the KCGI by the last day of an application period.)

Components of the Complete Application
- Application Form: Please use the prescribed form.
- Admission and Photo Tickets: Please fill out the prescribed form.
- Transcripts: Please submit those identify graduated and enrolling universities.
- Diploma (or a certification of expecting diploma): Please submit those certified by the President of the graduated university. For applicants who are awarded bachelor’s degree by the other institutions, please submit a copy of the degree record or certification of the award.
- Personal Statement: (1,000 to 2,000 words) Please indicate educational backgrounds, reasons of application, objectives of studying at the KCGI, and future career development. For further information, please see the application guidebook.
- Short Essay: (2,000 to 4,000 words) Please discuss on a theme of your own choice. For further information, please see the application guidebook.
- Application Fee: 30,000 Japanese Yen. Payment shall be made to the bank or post office. For further information, please see the application guidebook.
- Stamps for Announcement of Acceptance: Stamps for 800 Japanese Yen.
- C.V. (only for those applying through the special admission process for full-time professional applicants): Please submit detailed manuscript of professional activities and work experiences. There is no prescribed form.
- References (Optional): Please submit reference materials which may useful for the application process, such as certifications of national qualification or foreign languages, documents for peculiar career, documents to support C.V., published work and articles, recommendation letters, etc.)
* Those who have passed the enrollment eligibility review do not need to submit Number 3, 4, and 10.
* International applicants may be required to submit other documents.
* All individual information and records submitted in support of an application for admission will be strictly controlled by the KCGI, and only used as:
・ Materials for the confirmation of addresses when sending admission documents
・ Materials for Admissions
Under no circumstance, all the individual information and records will not be utilized for the other purposes.
Notification of Decision
All applicants will receive a document stating admission result.
The names of those admitted will be announced in the KCGI at 10:00am of the scheduled date of the notification of decision.
Acceptance to fill vacancies
The waiting list of those accepted to fill vacancies when the vacancies become available may be announced. Those who are accepted in this condition will be notified their status in a document. When we have a vacancy, the acceptance letter will be sent. We may individually ask to confirm if you still have the will to enroll the school.
Admission Procedure
Admitted students need to follow the admission procedures by deadlines.
- Please submit documents for admission procedure to Admission Office.
- Please make payments of required fees to the KCGI.
*When the admission procedure has not been done by the deadline, your admission may be cancelled.

Admission Eligibility Review
Those who are under the categories of Number 8 and 9 in the Eligibility of Applicants are required to take the enrollment eligibility review. Please submit documents below to the Admission Office, fourteen days before the examination date. Please indicate "Documents for Admission Eligibility Review Enclosed" with red markers, and use the registered mail for documents sent by mail.

- Certification of Diploma: Please submit a certification of diploma of the last school you attended. Only those who have enrolled in a university more than three years do not need to submit.
- Transcripts: ・ Those under the category of Number 8, please submit a transcript of the last school you attended. ・ Those under the category of Number 9, please submit a transcript of the university you are currently attending.
- Recommendation Letter: Those under the category of Number 9 need to submit the letter created and sealed by the university you are currently attending.
- A Record of Curriculum: Those under the category of Number 9 need to submit a record that indicates list of the courses and detailed class contents you have taken from a university you are currently attending.

- Review Process and Schedule: There will be written and oral examinations.

Long-term Study Program
The part-time students who are working full-time can apply for the Long-term Study Program to extend the period of enrollments. Please ask for further information.
