
Each organization has its own culture. Though the nature of an organization tends to be primarily structured by the corporate system, ethos, informal human relationship, and symbolic systems embedded in the original society also have strong influences on the organization. An organizational behavior is determined by many factors.
The modernization in Japan was built based on the lessons of the West, and thus, educational and economic systems had been well established along with the government system. Moreover, the culture of Japan within the organizations had dramatically influenced the country’s modernization process.
This course focuses on and examines Japanese organizational culture that led to its high-speed economic growth after World War II; analyzes case studies from various perspectives; and teaches organizational change analysis techniques. This course aims to train students to acquire a perspective of corporate organizational building needed to deal with future issues in Japan, and to understand how Japan can work together with other different cultural worlds.
